A lady of steel, conductor Jane Glover of Great Britain will present the music of her fellow countrymen to our audience. In addition to one of the most popular cello concertos of all times, composed by the great romanticist Edward Elgar, we will also hear two fantasies on themes of old composers Thomas Tallis and Arcangelo Corelli, both written by British artists of different periods and stylistic expressions: Ralph Vaughan Williams and Michael Tippett. The concert is thematically rounded off by Symphony No. 102, the tenth of Joseph Haydn’s twelve London symphonies, created during his stay in London, which is regarded as the most prolific and contented period of his professional and personal life.
